Atmos Renewables’ 400MW/1,600MWh Teebar battery energy storage system has moved into delivery phase, with infrastructure services provider Enerven appointed to build the landmark Queensland project — its first major assignment in the state.
The Teebar facility will provide four hours of storage capacity. Supported by the Australian government’s Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS), the project will play a key role in supplying clean, dispatchable power as Queensland transitions its energy grid.
The partnership represents a milestone for both organisations, serving as Enerven’s entry into the Queensland market and representing the first BESS project in the National Electricity Market for Atmos Renewables.
Enerven’s scope of work includes comprehensive site preparation, road upgrades, BESS integration, a 275kV substation, and roughly 300 metres of 275kV overhead transmission lines. Battery technology for the installation will be supplied by partner company Valo.
Enerven CEO Richard Amato noted the significance of the project.
“Teebar is our first major project in Queensland and the start of a new partnership with Atmos Renewables,” Amato said.
“For the local community, construction will create jobs and opportunities for suppliers. Once operating, the battery will help make more renewable energy available when homes and businesses need it.”
Atmos Renewables CEO Nigel Baker added that Enerven’s proven track record positioned it well to lead safe construction while upholding community and First Nations commitments, with the project team actively engaging the local Kabi Kabi people.
“It is important to Atmos to work with reputable and trusted delivery partners, and Enerven is well positioned to lead the safe and successful construction of the Teebar BESS, including supporting Atmos’ commitments to First Nations and local community stakeholders,” Baker said.
Enerven is scheduled to mobilise to the Teebar site in October, with full commercial operations targeted for late 2028.
