Suzuki Australia has selected Ohme as its exclusive home electric vehicle charging partner, coinciding with the launch of the e VITARA, the company’s first electric vehicle for the Australian market.
Under the arrangement, Suzuki will recommend Ohme chargers to customers who need a home charging setup.
Ohme chargers will be displayed in Suzuki dealerships, and Ohme will handle the full process, including the charger unit, installation, and training and support for dealership staff.
The agreement extends a global relationship between the two companies, which already includes similar partnerships in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Those arrangements give Suzuki EV buyers a combined charging solution at the point of sale, an approach the companies are now bringing to Australia.
Ohme describes itself as the largest home EV charging provider in the UK and Ireland and says it is the fastest-growing EV charging company in Europe.
Michael Pachota, General Manager of Suzuki Australia, said the launch of the e VITARA represents a significant point in the company’s electric vehicle plans for the local market.
“As Suzuki’s first-ever electric car, the introduction of e VITARA marks an important step in Suzuki’s future EV offering in Australia,” he said.
Matthew Evans, Head of Mobility at Ohme Australia, said the collaboration builds on work already underway between the two companies overseas.
“It’s a natural extension of the work Ohme has already done with Suzuki in our other global markets, and we’re excited to bring that same level of experience to Suzuki’s Australian network,” he said.
The e VITARA is available with two battery options, 49kWh and 61kWh, and can be configured with either Front Wheel Drive or Suzuki’s ALLGRIP E Four Wheel Drive system.
Ohme’s charging technology includes solar integration and allows drivers to schedule charging for periods when electricity prices are lower and when renewable energy generation on the local grid is higher, which the company says can reduce a vehicle’s overall carbon footprint.
Ohme already operates as the official home EV charging partner for SG Fleet, a fleet management and mobility provider operating in both Australia and the UK.
In the UK, Ohme was named Most Reliable Home Charger by What Car? magazine.
In Australia, the company was listed among the Top 5 EV chargers by Solar Choice, a solar energy comparison platform.
The partnership marks Suzuki’s entry into a growing segment of the Australian automotive market, as manufacturers increasingly pair vehicle launches with charging infrastructure arrangements aimed at simplifying the ownership experience for EV buyers.
Suzuki’s e VITARA joins an expanding field of electric vehicles available in Australia, with automakers competing not only on vehicle specifications but on the broader ownership experience, including how easily customers can charge their vehicles at home and how much support is offered around installation and servicing.
For Suzuki, the tie-up with Ohme follows a pattern already established in other markets, where the company has paired new EV launches with dedicated charging partnerships rather than leaving customers to source charging equipment independently.
Whether the approach proves popular with Australian buyers will likely depend on pricing, installation timelines and how the service compares with other charging options already on the market.
