ROSEN wins contract for UK decarbonisation project

ROSEN(UK) Ltd., a major provider of cutting-edge integrity solutions, has won a major contract to deliver design verification and subsea engineering support for one of the United Kingdom’s most ambitious carbon capture initiatives.

The project, set to play a pivotal role in decarbonising North West England and North Wales, aims to reduce regional carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions by 25 per cent from the mid-2020s, marking a significant step forward in the UK’s energy transition.

The groundbreaking initiative focuses on capturing and securely storing CO₂ generated from heavy industries, while simultaneously providing locally produced, low-carbon hydrogen to fuel businesses, transport networks, and homes.

By developing dedicated carbon capture and hydrogen infrastructure, the project is expected to enhance energy security, safeguard thousands of jobs, and generate new opportunities for skilled professionals across the region.

As part of the contract, ROSEN(UK) Ltd. will undertake comprehensive design verification of the project’s CO₂ transportation pipelines — ensuring they meet stringent safety, reliability, and performance standards.

The company’s renowned engineering expertise will be instrumental in supporting the client as they reengineer and repurpose existing pipelines for carbon storage.

The collaboration, which began in early 2025, marks the beginning of a two-year partnership, with further opportunities anticipated as the UK accelerates its pathway to net-zero emissions.

Gordon Blair, Business Development Manager at ROSEN(UK) Ltd., stated: “We are proud to be part of a project that is shaping the future of the UK’s energy sector.

“Our deep expertise in pipeline verification and subsea engineering ensures the infrastructure supporting carbon capture is both safe and efficient.”

Bryn Roberts, Technical Manager at ROSEN(UK) Ltd., added: “This iniative is a game-changer for industrial decarbonisation, and we look forward to continuing our role in delivering a more sustainable future.”

With decades of experience in pipeline integrity, design validation, and risk assessment, ROSEN is strategically positioned to support the expansion of carbon capture and hydrogen technologies.

This contract underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to driving innovation and supporting large-scale projects that help industries shrink their carbon footprint.
