Mobius acquires Air Liquide biogas assets in Europe and US

06 May, 2026
Mobius acquires Air Liquide biogas assets

Mobius Renewables has completed the acquisition of Air Liquide’s biogas production assets across the United States and Europe.

The deal includes six operating landfill gas-to-RNG sites in the United States, five farm waste-based production facilities in France, and a 51 per cent stake in Redo Biosolutions, which operates production and distribution assets across Norway and Sweden.

The acquisition substantially expands Mobius Renewables’ footprint and reinforces its position as a vertically integrated low-carbon fuels platform.

Mobius Renewables was established in December 2025 by funds managed by IFM Investors, with a mandate to accelerate the development, production, distribution, and commercialisation of RNG across North America and Europe.

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company also maintains offices in France, Norway, and Sweden.

With the integration of these newly acquired assets, Mobius Renewables will generate and distribute more than 5.5 million MMBtu of renewable natural gas annually.

The company sources RNG from landfill gas and anaerobic digestion processes, positioning itself as a major contributor to global decarbonisation efforts.

The transaction also finalises the establishment of Mobius Renewables as a unified platform.

GreenGasUSA and the newly acquired operations will now operate under a single brand, aimed at delivering enhanced scale, operational reliability, and stronger partnerships across markets.

The Redo Biosolutions brand and its strategic direction will remain unchanged.

Industry analysts view the acquisition as a clear signal of IFM Investors’ continued commitment to the low-carbon fuels sector.

The firm is expected to prioritise operational efficiency and disciplined expansion, combining organic project development with targeted acquisitions to drive growth.

Cynthia Walker, President and CEO of Mobius Renewables, emphasised the importance of integrating international teams and assets as the company enters its next phase of growth.

“I am thrilled to welcome new teams from the U.S., France, Norway, and Sweden to Mobius Renewables,” said Cynthia Walker, President & CEO of Mobius Renewables.

“With this transaction, our teams can now focus on improving operations and investing in new projects as we set the foundation for future global growth.

“We remain partnership-focused and have an unparalleled position with the right expertise, the right capital, and the right mindset to unlock value for our partners while accelerating measurable progress toward their sustainability goals.”

The acquisition reflects broader momentum in the renewable natural gas sector, as governments and corporations increasingly seek scalable, low-carbon alternatives to conventional fuels.

RNG, derived from organic waste streams, is gaining traction as a practical solution for reducing emissions in hard-to-abate sectors such as heavy transport and industrial energy use.

With expanded assets across key international markets and a fully integrated operating platform, Mobius Renewables is positioning itself to play a leading role in the global energy transition.

The company’s next phase will focus on optimising its existing portfolio while pursuing new investment opportunities to further increase RNG production capacity and market reach.
