Intertek Envirolab expands environmental testing and assurance services

31 Jul, 2026

Intertek, a Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has announced the launch of Intertek Envirolab, a new unified brand bringing together trusted environmental and analytical expertise with the company’s global operational sustainability capabilities.

The launch represents the next stage in the evolution of Envirolab Group, merging decades of regional experience with Intertek’s global network of Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification services.

The result is a more connected and comprehensive offering for customers across Australia.

As part of the transition, the MPL brand will retire and be folded into Intertek Envirolab.

The move recognises MPL’s long-standing role in the environmental testing industry and the reputation, customer relationships and technical expertise it built over many years.

Intertek Envirolab is designed to help businesses measure, manage and demonstrate their sustainability performance through a single trusted quality assurance partner.

The unified brand strengthens the company’s reach across environmental, occupational hygiene, hazmat and analytical services.

It also gives Envirolab customers expanded access to Intertek’s global network of technical experts, state-of-the-art laboratories in more than 100 countries, and its broader operational sustainability solutions.

The launch comes as regulators, investors and customers place growing pressure on businesses to provide transparent and credible sustainability reporting.

Intertek Envirolab aims to meet that demand by offering science-based, data-driven insights that support regulatory compliance, strengthen ESG reporting, validate sustainability claims and improve operational performance, both in Australia and internationally.

The new brand will build on the customer-focused approach that has defined Envirolab’s reputation to date.

Intertek has committed to continued investment in smarter systems, expanded technical capabilities and a broader geographical footprint as part of the transition, with the goal of further strengthening client support.

Tyrone Cowland, Vice President of Minerals Australasia and Envirolab, said the launch marked an important milestone for the business and its customers alike.

“Intertek Envirolab represents the evolution of a proven and trusted business into a more connected global offering.

“By combining trusted local expertise with Intertek’s operational sustainability capabilities, we are creating a stronger platform which supports our customers through end-to-end solutions, broader technical capability and access to a truly global network.”

The rebrand reflects a wider trend across the testing, inspection and certification sector, as companies consolidate regional strengths under global platforms to meet rising expectations around sustainability accountability.

For Envirolab customers, the shift promises continuity of service alongside expanded resources, without the need to change providers during a period of increasing regulatory scrutiny.

Intertek Envirolab will mark its arrival with launch events in Perth and Sydney in July 2026.

The events will bring together customers, industry representatives and teams from across the Intertek network to celebrate the new brand and outline its expanded service offering.

With the retirement of the MPL name, the rebrand closes one chapter of the environmental testing sector’s history in Australia while opening another.

Intertek Envirolab now stands as the face of environmental and analytical services within the Intertek network, positioned to support businesses as they navigate a regulatory and operational landscape that continues to grow more complex by the year.
