Enphase Energy Inc. has partnered with Evergen, one of Australia’s most advanced distributed energy and virtual power plant (VPP) orchestration platforms, to offer homeowners the ability to participate in grid services.
The two companies will integrate Enphase’s IQ Batteries into Evergen’s VPP platform, which allows homeowners to automate their energy use like never before.
Under the new arrangement, energy retailers can offer customers the ability to charge their batteries when grid prices are low and export power back to the grid during high-price peaks, effectively turning home batteries into a revenue stream.
Eligible customers can combine VPP participation credits and retailer sign-up bonuses with the federal government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which offers rebates of up to 30 per cent off the cost of eligible systems.
“Integrating with Enphase unlocks more choice and more value for Australian households,” said Ryan Wood, Evergen’s Head of Commercial.
“Our platform now has the potential to enable homeowners to optimise their Enphase batteries, participate in leading VPP programs, and earn new revenue streams while supporting a more resilient grid.”
With Australia continuing to lead the world in rooftop solar adoption, Enphase is leaning heavily into the grid services model.
By joining a VPP, homeowners act as a collective power plant, discharging energy to stabilise the grid during times of stress.
“Australia continues to lead the world in home energy innovation, and our integration with Evergen is another step toward giving homeowners more control and more value from their solar and battery investments,” said Marco Krapels, senior vice president of global energy markets and CMO at Enphase Energy.
“By pairing the federal battery rebate with state incentives, retailer programs, and optimisation platforms like Evergen, we can help accelerate battery adoption and deliver a better energy experience for our customers.”
As VPP programs expand across New South Wales, South Australia, and beyond, the collaboration promises to make home energy storage not just an environmental choice, but a financially viable one for the average Australian consumer.
