Ingka Investments, the investment arm of Ingka Group, has acquired a 195MW Australian solar PV portfolio from Australian arm of German solar PV developer, ENERPARC. The total investment in the solar PV portfolio will amount to approximately AU$250 million.
The deal includes two operational solar PV parks in Peak Hill and Trundle, near Parkes, in central-west New South Wales and a third solar PV park currently under development which is expected to start producing electricity at the end of 2025.

Court rules Latrobe Valley’s first wind farm can proceed
The Supreme Court has ruled that the Delburn wind farm is valid and can go ahead, after its approval was challenged by the Strzelecki Community Alliance (a group of Victorian residents).
The Delburn wind farm will be the first wind farm in the Latrobe Valley, it will also be the first wind farm built in a plantation in Australia.
The 33-turbine farm was approved by the Victorian Planning Minister Richard Wynne in March after a planning panel assessed the project last year. It is to be built in pine plantations close to the site of the former Hazelwood coal-fired power station, which closed in 2017.

Emerald set to supercharge by joining CQ big battery blitz
Emerald has been selected for Central Queensland's next large-scale network-connected battery site, which will provide eight megawatt-hours of energy with 4 megawatts of power for up to 2 hours.
The new battery, part of the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan, is second in Central Queensland after Tanby switched on last year, and will be publicly owned by Ergon Energy.
The new battery is one of the next 12 large-scale, electricity network-connected batteries that will help Queensland communities reap even more benefits from rooftop solar.

The façade of Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) new city campus is completed ahead of the wet season, capping off the building’s main protection against Darwin’s tropical heat and humidity.
Standing 40 metres tall, with a combination of vertical and sloping design features, the building includes curtain wall with porcelain tiles, horizontal aluminium louvres, and various types of cladding to reflect the harsh Darwin weather, while ensuring the iconic Boab tree is not overshadowed.

Recycled glass and reclaimed asphalt used to revamp Clarence Street
Around 120,000 glass jars and more than 200 tonnes of reclaimed asphalt were used to refresh a one kilometre stretch of Clarence Street in Sydney.
This means nearly a quarter of materials used to renew more than 8,000 square metres of road surface is recycled. The City of Sydney resurfaces around 35,000 square metres of road each year.
Since July 2021, the City of Sydney has used around 1.5 million recycled glass jars and more than 6,000 tonnes of reclaimed asphalt in its road renewal program.

Goondicum mine remediation continues to protect river
Work is underway on the latest $2.5 million stage of a Queensland Government project to remediate the Goondicum Mine site.
Resources Minister Scott Stewart said contractors started work in June at the abandoned mine site near Monto on a remediation plan developed with Goondicum Station landowners Rob and Nadia Campbell.
“Queensland’s resources industry has generated jobs and prosperity for decades, but it has also left us with a legacy of old and abandoned mines,” Mr Stewart said.

New York lithium-ion battery plant begins commercial production
Commercial production has commenced at the Imperium3 New York (iM3NY) lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant in Endicott, New York. Magnis Energy Technologies Ltd, along with its joint venture and technology partner Charge CCCV LLC (C4V), are the major shareholders in iM3NY - North America’s only pure home-grown battery plant.
iM3NY CEO Chaitanya Sharma said, “Despite a challenging global environment and supply chain issues, we have successfully started production close to schedule which is a major achievement. We now look forward to increasing production rates toward and over the gigawatt hour mark.”

Flagship LNG and hydrogen research facility announces FEED
The Kwinana Energy Transformation Hub (KETH), a key project being undertaken by the Future Energy Exports Cooperative Research Centre (FEnEx CRC), has achieved a significant milestone entering into its Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) stage.
Luth Eolas Pty Ltd, which has been established to develop and operate the KETH, announced it had awarded the FEED contract to a partnership of Valmec Australia Pty Ltd and Kent.
FEnEx CRC Chief Executive Professor Eric May said the FEED process is an essential step ahead of a Final Investment Decision (FID) for the project, which is expected in 2023.
