Maggot-infested meals could be final straw for workers at Snowy Hydro 2.0

The Australian Workers' Union (AWU) is warning workers on the Snowy Hydro 2.0 project may have to walk off the job to protect their safety and wellbeing due to unhygienic food being served on site. Workers have taken photos of food riddled with maggots being served on site, and other meals that appear all but inedible. AWU NSW Secretary Tony Callinan said the food being served was indicative of a broader management problem on site. CIMIC’s Pacific Partnerships’ solar farm reaches financial close

CIMIC Group company Pacific Partnerships has achieved financial close and commenced construction on the Glenrowan Solar Farm in northern Victoria, following the project’s 10-year VRET2 support agreement signed late last year with the Victorian Government. An in-depth review of over 20,000 Melbourne households revealed significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, energy consumption, and associated costs that may be lowered through greater water efficiency. Greenpeace Australia Pacific is appealing the Western Australian Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) decision to extend the life of Woodside North West Shelf (NWS) gas processing facility, on the grounds that the EPA has failed to properly consider the climate and environment impacts of extending the gas facility for a further 50 years. Construction has started on a $16 million project that will turn waste flowing to Australia’s largest wastewater treatment plant into carbon-neutral gas for use in Sydney. The Malabar Biomethane project, co-funded by Jemena and Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), will be the first in Australia to blend biomethane directly into the gas network, with the aim to start production by the end of 2022.
