Allied Green Ammonia and Gumatj Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to move towards an agreement to develop green hydrogen and green ammonia production facilities.
This $8.5-billion-project will be located on the Gove Peninsula near the township of Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory, and will increase the local community’s employment rates as well as overall growth.
The proposed facility will produce approximately 149,685 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, which will result in approximately 827,806 tonnes of green ammonia every 12 months.
During the project’s construction, over 2,000 direct and indirect jobs will be provided and facility operations will result in a further 500 direct and indirect jobs.
Developing a successful project like this has the potential to attract further opportunities, benefits and growth to the region in the future.
The green hydrogen and green ammonia produced will be utilised by industry and mobility sectors, progressing the country’s decarbonisation journey.
