Smart Energy 2026 to bring 12,000+ energy professionals to Sydney this May

Smart Energy 2026 to bring 12,000+ energy professionals to Sydney this May

Smart Energy Conference & Exhibition 2026 returns to ICC Sydney on 6 &7 May, bringing together more than 12,000 professionals and 130+ exhibitors from across Australia’s renewable and smart energy sector.

Taking place at a critical time for the industry, the event connects installers, developers, policymakers, utilities and investors for two days of practical insight, hands on technology and meaningful networking.

This year’s conference programme features 10 focused tracks covering key topics including grid integration, solar innovation, transport electrification, circular economy solutions and the future of installers and retailers. Designed around real world challenges, the agenda focuses on practical application and actionable insight.

Confirmed speakers include Veena Sahajwalla, Director, UNSW SMaRT Centre (Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology), Carl Binning, Executive General Manager at the Clean Energy Regulator, and Tim Buckley, Director at Climate Energy Finance, alongside industry voices such as Sophie Wright of OpenSolar and Kim Curtain from the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. Together, they bring perspectives from policy, technology, regulation and market strategy.

A key feature for installers and designers is the opportunity to earn up to 130 CPD points through a series of practical, accredited training sessions. These sessions focus on compliance, safety, product training and installation best practice, supporting ongoing professional development in an increasingly regulated and fast evolving market.

On the exhibition floor, attendees will be able to explore the latest solar, storage and smart energy technologies, meet leading suppliers and discover emerging solutions shaping the next phase of Australia’s energy transition. Exhibitors and sponsors include major industry players such as AlphaESS, Solis, OSW, Raystech, Blue Sun Group, GoodWe and Growatt, alongside a wide range of innovators and solution providers.

Networking remains central to the experience, with thousands of professionals from across the energy ecosystem in attendance. The event app will support connections before and during the show, helping attendees plan meetings, navigate the agenda and make the most of their time onsite.

“Smart Energy 2026 is about bringing the industry together to share knowledge and move the sector forward,” said Matt Gatfield, General Manager of Smart Energy Conference & Exhibition. “It reflects what is happening across the market right now, and where it is heading next.”

Smart Energy 2026 takes place on 6 & 7 May at ICC Sydney. Registration is free.
