The WA government is backing a local engineering firm with targeted funding to boost Western Australia’s wind energy servicing capability.
Turbine Solutions has been awarded $453,230 through the state’s $8 million Wind Energy Manufacturing Co-Investment Program, supporting new jobs and specialised training for wind turbine maintenance.
The funding will enable the company to expand its workforce and deploy advanced tools to deliver critical services such as turbine bearing replacements and borescope inspections.
The initiative is being delivered in partnership with the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC), and is expected to establish Turbine Solutions as a key provider in the state’s growing renewable energy sector.
Leveraging its experience from the oil and gas industry, the company will introduce customised tools designed to reduce turbine downtime, improve safety, and ensure faster, locally delivered maintenance.
The project is forecast to create up to 15 new jobs while generating $11.2 million in new revenue over five years.
Turbine Solutions joins Australian Winders and RCR Advanced Technologies as recipients of the program, which provides up to half of the project costs, with industry partners required to co-invest.
Across all supported projects, the program is expected to create more than 85 new jobs and contribute $65 million in revenue to the state economy within the first five years.
It also offers targeted financial and non-financial support to help local manufacturers expand their role in global renewable supply chains.
“Western Australia has the skills, ingenuity and industrial capability to lead the nation in renewable energy and advanced manufacturing.
“This investment in Turbine Solutions shows how local businesses can pivot their expertise in oil and gas into new clean energy industries, creating jobs and strengthening WA’s economy.
“The Cook government is proud to back local companies that are helping to drive the global energy transition while building a stronger, more sustainable future for our state.”
Energy and Decarbonisation and Manufacturing Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said the program was giving manufacturers the opportunity to scale up and compete globally by developing specialised expertise in wind energy.
She said Turbine Solutions exemplifies how Western Australian firms can transfer knowledge from traditional industries into the renewables sector to create new pathways for employment and innovation.
