Potentia Energy has acquired an 80.1 per cent stake in BEI from superannuation fund Cbus Super and CVC DIF.

BEI was established in 2018 as a joint venture and a renewable energy investment vehicle between WA electricity generator and retailer Synergy, Cbus super and CVC DIF.

Potentia Energy is a joint venture co-owned by Enel Green Power and INPEX. Enel Green Power entered the Australian market in 2017 and transitioned to a joint venture entity with INPEX in late 2023.

BEI Executive General Manager, Tom Frood, said he looked forward to working with Potentia Energy.

“Potentia Energy develop and operate high-quality renewable energy assets across Australia, so this marks an exciting new chapter for BEI,” Mr Frood said.

BEI owns renewable energy assets in Western Australia, including Warradarge Wind Farm, Albany Grasmere Wind Farm and Greenough River Solar Farm.

In December, BEI announced the expansion of Warradarge Wind Farm with 30 more wind turbines, providing an extra 103 megawatts (MW) of power. When complete Warradarge Wind Farm will be the largest wind farm in Western Australia and is recognised as one of the most efficient wind farms in Australia.
