INPEX reaches major renewable energy milestone in Australia

INPEX Corporation has announced a significant step forward in its renewable energy initiatives with the final investment decision (FID) for the Quorn Park Hybrid Project in New South Wales, Australia.

The Quorn Park Hybrid Project, a joint venture with Enel Green Power Australia Pty Ltd (EGPA) in which INPEX holds a 50 per cent stake, will combine a 98 MWdc (80 MWac) photovoltaic solar farm with a 20 MW/40MWh battery energy storage system connected to the grid.

The Quorn Park FID marks INPEX’s first renewable energy investment decision in Australia since acquiring a 50 per cent stake in EGPA from Enel Green Power S.p.A. in September 2023.

EGPA operates hybrid renewable projects across Australia combining solar, wind, and battery storage.

As an active manager of EGPA’s portfolio, INPEX aims to enhance the company’s output capacity and support its innovative solutions in retail, trading, and beyond.

Once operational, the Quorn Park Hybrid Project will showcase an advanced model for integrating renewable generation and storage to stabilise grid performance. By efficiently charging and dispatching solar power through its battery system, the project can regulate electricity flows to the grid.

This hybrid approach represents a significant step in Australia’s transition to clean energy sources while ensuring reliable power delivery.

INPEX remains committed to transforming the energy landscape and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 through strategic investments in renewable technologies worldwide.
