Genex completes 50MW/100MWh Bouldercombe Battery Project

Genex Completes Construction of 50MW/100MWh Bouldercombe Battery Project

Genex Power Limited has completed the construction of the 50MW/100MWh Bouldercombe Battery Project in Rockhampton, Queensland, its  first large-scale battery energy storage project (BESS).

The installation of two replacement Megapacks was completed in November 2023, with testing and final hold point tests completed in December 2023.

Genex granted the final construction milestone and made the final payments to Tesla, after recovering full costs associated with a minor fire event at the project.

Genex CEO Craig Francis stated: “Following the commencement of operations at our 50MW/100MWh Bouldercombe Battery Project in November 2023, we are pleased to have completed the installation of the two replacement Megapack units on schedule and subsequently concluded the construction phase of the project.

“Importantly, Genex has seen limited financial impact as Tesla incurred the costs associated with the minor fire incident in September 2023.”

The project has been operating at full capacity since December 2023 under the Autobidder Offtake Agreement with Tesla.

Genex Power CEO Craig Francis expressed satisfaction with the project’s progress and thanked Tesla, Consolidated Power Projects, Powerlink and Amplitude Consultants for their support.

Genex Power is an Australian electricity generation company that specialises in the generation and storage of renewable energy.

The company is known for its diverse portfolio of renewable energy and storage projects across Australia, focusing on hydro, wind, and solar energy initiatives.
