CIMIC Group’s UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded a $20 million early works contract by Powerlink for the CopperString 2032 project in North Queensland.
The works package will cover detailed engineering design, field surveys, geotechnical surveys and geotechnical works.
The delivery phase of the project will oversee design, construction and commissioning of seven new substations and a high voltage transmission line between Townsville and Mt Isa. The design and construct contract is expected to be executed later this year and will include an expanded 500 kilovolt transmission line from Townsville to Hughenden, plus associated works.
