Dr Angela Wilkinson, Secretary General and CEO of the World Energy Council, welcomed Australia’s inclusion, highlighting its strategic importance in the Asia-Pacific region.

She stated: “Australia’s inclusion will be pivotal in driving forward new and innovative solutions to the energy challenges of today and tomorrow.”

The AIE, known for its dedication to energy policy development and advocacy, will play a crucial role in advancing Australia’s objectives within the World Energy Council.

This collaboration will enable Australian energy leaders to engage with global experts in addressing pressing challenges facing the energy sector.

Katie McKenzie, President of AIE, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting Australia’s position at the forefront of the global energy transition.

She emphasised the opportunities this collaboration brings for connecting with the global energy community and sharing insights on the challenges of a reliable and equitable energy transition

As a Member Committee, Australia will participate in the World Energy Council‘s global discussions, including its flagship World Energy Congress.

This involvement is expected to enhance international cooperation in energy research, development, and sustainable practices, contributing to the global shift towards a cleaner and more resilient energy system.
