Residents of two Jackson Green apartment buildings will be able to hire a Tesla Model 3 electric vehicle by the hour with the new partnership between property developer Cedar Woods, Origin Energy, and e-mobility and proptech company Ohmie Go.
The new partnership in Clayton South will deliver a Tesla Model 3 for both Huntington and Aster apartments currently under development. The electric vehicles will be available for residents to hire for as little as $15 per hour directly from an allocated spot in each building.
Residents will be able to use the Ohmie Go app to book, access, and pay for the electric vehicle at an hourly, daily or weekend rate. The car is picked up and dropped off from dedicated bays within the buildings’ car parks.
This will be the first carshare partnership for Cedar Woods, and Chief Operating Officer Patrick Archer is hoping it will encourage the uptake of electric vehicles in Australia.
“Electric vehicles and carshare services are a necessity for the future. As a nation we are gravitating towards more environmentally sustainable form of transportation and Cedar Woods is proud to be partnering with Ohmie Go to encourage the uptake of electric vehicles,” Mr Archer said.
He shared that existing infrastructure influenced the decision to offer carshare in the community.
“Jackson Green is well serviced by public transport, meaning car ownership is not always a necessary expense. We consider the needs of people in our communities and we believe that carshare services will bridge the gap between public transport and car ownership to add great value to the lives of Jackson Green residents.”
“Change happens slowly so hopefully by offering a service that is affordable and convenient, we can encourage others to also consider a mix of public transport and electric vehicles as an alternative to traditional petrol cars,” Mr Archer said.
The Tesla Model 3 will be partially subsidised by Origin Energy who has also partnered with Cedar Woods on Huntington apartments to deliver the most sustainable development to date in the Jackson Green masterplan.
Origin Energy will deliver a 40 kilowatt Solar PV system to power common areas as well as additional communal electric vehicle chargers in the car park.

The Huntington apartments are sold out and currently under construction, due for completion in July 2021, Aster apartments are currently selling with construction due to commence in May 2021.
