Horizon Power opens regional community partnerships funding applications

20 Jul, 2026

Eligible organisations across regional and remote Western Australia are invited to apply for funding through Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships program.

Delivered on behalf of the state government, the Community Partnerships program provides funding to support local, community-led initiatives throughout Horizon Power’s service area, which includes the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Mid West, Esperance and Goldfields regions.

Funding is prioritised for organisations that can deliver strong local benefits and support the wellbeing of those living in regional WA.

Applications are encouraged for projects that align with one or more of the program’s focus areas, including initiatives that build local skills, encourage better everyday decision-making, improve the energy efficiency of community spaces and help communities to stay connected during extreme weather and emergency events.

Past partnership recipients include regional sporting clubs, cultural and music events, and environmental education programs for school-aged children.

Funding is available to eligible organisations wanting to upgrade their club infrastructure, purchase specialist equipment or kick-start a new project.

Organisations delivering initiatives that support clean energy outcomes in regional WA are particularly encouraged to apply.

Horizon Power Chief Executive Officer, Krystal Skinner, said the organisation was proud to support a range of initiatives that build capacity and vibrancy for those living in regional and remote Western Australia.

“Our Community Partnerships program is designed to celebrate and empower regional communities, and we’re committed to backing the ideas, initiatives and opportunities that matter most to local people,” said Skinner.

“Strong communities are built by the people who know them best.

“That’s why we’re proud to partner with organisations that strengthen our regions, whether that’s improving community spaces, supporting youth programs, building local capability or helping communities prepare for future challenges.

“If your organisation is creating positive change, we encourage you to apply.”

In the previous round of funding, $467,904 was awarded to 72 successful recipients.

This included support for regional events such as Broome’s upcoming Floating Lanterns Festival as part of Shinju Matsuri, Esperance’s Winter Wonderland and the 2027 Lake Argyle Swim.

Other recipients included community kitchen upgrades, solar-powered projects and many community-led initiatives across Horizon Power’s service area.

Funding from $1,000 up to $50,000 is available. Applications for the latest round of partnerships close on 14 August 2026 and successful recipients will be announced in October 2026.
