APEM Group expands Australian presence with acquisition of Attexo

APEM Group, a global environmental consultancy, has announced the acquisition of Attexo, an Australian provider of advisory and environmental consultancy services to the renewable energy sector.

This strategic move marks APEM Group’s eighth acquisition since 2021 and further solidifies its presence in the Australian market.

The acquisition brings 60 new colleagues into the APEM Group, expanding its Australian workforce to over 215 experts.

This growth adds Queensland to the company’s existing locations in Victoria and New South Wales, enhancing its ability to provide local support across key industries.

Attexo specialises in strategic advisory and environmental consultancy services for the energy, resource, and infrastructure sectors.

The company has played a crucial role in Australia’s energy transition, contributing to high-profile renewable energy projects, including wind farms, grid-scale batteries, pumped hydro schemes, solar farms, and hydrogen projects.

Leah McGimpsey, APEM Group CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, highlighting the alignment between Attexo’s client-centric approach and APEM Group’s ethos.

She emphasised the enhanced capabilities in environmental approvals, biodiversity, heritage, geospatial services, and the addition of new expertise in Land, Tenure, and Environmental Management.

Darroch Baker, Managing Director of Water & Land Environmental Services at APEM Group, noted Attexo’s reputation for high-quality project delivery and its extensive client list across Australia.

He emphasised the complementary nature of Attexo’s local knowledge with APEM Group’s global capabilities in the wind sector.

Jim Fjeldsoe, Partner at Attexo, expressed excitement about joining APEM Group, citing opportunities for career growth and expanded service offerings for clients.

He highlighted the strong alignment in culture and purpose between the two companies.

This acquisition is part of APEM Group’s broader strategy of growth and international expansion, supported by private equity firm WestBridge.

The move strengthens APEM Group’s position in the Australian renewable energy market and enhances its ability to support clients throughout their project lifecycles.

As Australia continues to focus on its energy transition, APEM Group’s expanded presence and capabilities position it to play a significant role in shaping the country’s sustainable energy future.
