Genex completes 50MW/100MWh Bouldercombe Battery Project
Genex Power Limited has completed the construction of the 50MW/100MWh Bouldercombe Battery Project in Rockhampton, Queensland, its first large-scale battery energy storage project (BESS).
The installation of two replacement Megapacks was completed in November 2023, with testing and final hold point tests completed in December 2023.
Genex granted the final construction milestone and made the final payments to Tesla, after recovering full costs associated with a minor fire event at the project.

RACV completes its largest solar panel installation in Victoria
RACV Solar has completed its largest solar panel installation in Victoria to date, at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO)’s Australian Synchrotron in Clayton, Victoria.
Offsetting enough power to light up the whole MCG for more than five years, over 3,000 panels cover an area of nearly 6,600m², including the large and iconic circular roof of the main research facility.
The panels will save ANSTO over two million kilowatt hours per year while also reducing its carbon footprint by over 1,680 tonnes per year.

ACCIONA Acquires Kwinana Waste-to-Energy Facility
ACCIONA has acquired 100 per cent ownership of Western Australia’s Kwinana Waste-to-Energy project in an agreement reached with Macquarie Capital and Dutch Infrastructure Fund.
ACCIONA's investment provides certainty for the ongoing construction and future operation of the facility, its workers, and the local community.
The facility is on track to be operational in the last quarter of 2024 when it will divert up to 460,000 tonnes of waste per annum from landfill and deliver 38 megawatts of baseload power to the Western Power grid, sufficient to power more than 50,000 households.

The façade of Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) new city campus is completed ahead of the wet season, capping off the building’s main protection against Darwin’s tropical heat and humidity.
Standing 40 metres tall, with a combination of vertical and sloping design features, the building includes curtain wall with porcelain tiles, horizontal aluminium louvres, and various types of cladding to reflect the harsh Darwin weather, while ensuring the iconic Boab tree is not overshadowed.

Recycled glass and reclaimed asphalt used to revamp Clarence Street
Around 120,000 glass jars and more than 200 tonnes of reclaimed asphalt were used to refresh a one kilometre stretch of Clarence Street in Sydney.
This means nearly a quarter of materials used to renew more than 8,000 square metres of road surface is recycled. The City of Sydney resurfaces around 35,000 square metres of road each year.
Since July 2021, the City of Sydney has used around 1.5 million recycled glass jars and more than 6,000 tonnes of reclaimed asphalt in its road renewal program.

Lab tests reveal green helium reservoir’s high concentration
An ASX-listed Australian-based junior believes it may have come across one of the largest untapped green helium reserves in the world.
Earlier this month, Noble Helium Ltd confirmed that lab testing of the substance from the Mbelele prospect at its North Rukwa project in Tanzania had returned high helium concentrations of 2.46 per cent.
The results are in line with the company’s initial field calculations based on the gas recovered from helium-enriched fluids across multiple reservoirs during a two well drilling campaign conducted during the December quarter.
