TECO Australia & New Zealand (TAC), Billion Watts, and Tun Green Power have joined forces to develop a pipeline of renewable energy and battery storage projects in Australia.
The joint venture’s first major undertaking will be the Seaspray solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Victoria, featuring a 5.48 MWp solar farm coupled with an 11 MWh battery system.
Under the agreement, TAC holds a 45 per cent stake in the joint venture and is poised to secure the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract. It marks a significant milestone for the company, which has operated in Australia for over 40 years.
TECO Australia and New Zealand President Stuart Walker said the Seaspray project, alongside a planned Tranche 2 portfolio, highlights the company’s evolution.
“These projects demonstrate TECO Australia’s strategic transformation and our capabilities in power equipment supply, energy engineering integration, and local project execution,” Walker said.
He added that TECO will continue working with partners to create a robust synergy that ensures high-performance energy storage and grid stability.
The ambitious Tranche 2 expansion aims to deliver a massive 50 MW / 200 MWh distributed energy portfolio. TECO plans to supply critical grid-scale equipment for this phase, including high-efficiency transformers and switchgear.
The partnership leverages distinct strengths from each player. Tun Green Power, an authorised after-sales provider for battery giant CATL, will manage the core energy storage and battery systems.
Meanwhile, Billion Watts will handle system integration and project management, navigating the complex regulations of Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM).
Billion Watts Overseas Business General Manager Chen Chun-Yi said their grid compliance expertise would “maximise long-term operational performance and project returns”.
By combining high-end Taiwanese engineering with local project experience, the consortium aims to establish itself as a premier provider of renewable infrastructure solutions across Oceania, keeping Aussie the grid stable as coal exits the system.
