Flow Power signs offtake agreement with Octopus for Blind Creek solar farm

17 Mar, 2026

Flow Power has signed a foundational offtake agreement with Octopus Australia for a new major hybrid renewables project, the upcoming Blind Creek solar farm and battery development in New South Wales.

Flow Power described the project as the next generation of renewable energy systems, designed as a true agri-solar model.

The project’s DC-coupled design and technology allows energy to flow directly from the solar array into the battery. DC-coupled means that the solar can charge the battery without any loss of power through conversion from DC to AC. This design reduces losses, improves efficiency and maximises the support the project can provide for the grid during high-demand periods.

The project will combine 300 megawatts (MW) of solar with a 243 MW, 486 megawatt-hour (MWh) battery, ensuring more clean energy can be generated, stored and delivered to the grid during evening peaks.

Once operational, the project will generate up to 300 MW of clean electricity, which is enough to power more than 120,000 homes. Flow Power said this reduction in emissions is equivalent to taking 200,000 cars off the road every year.

Byron Serjeantson, COO and CFO of Flow Power, said: “Blind Creek represents the next generation of renewable energy projects, combining smart technology, firmer supply for customers, and regenerative agriculture.”

Construction of the project is now underway, with Octopus breaking ground on the site in early March.

Octopus Australia Co-MD, Renewables, Sonia Teitel said it is critical to deliver reliable and affordable renewable energy.

“Blind Creek is the kind of next generation project Australia’s market needs, and Flow Power’s foundational partnership is key to making that possible.

“We’re thrilled to be working together to bring more scalable, future-ready renewable projects to market,” Teitel said.
