All 30 wind turbines erected for Warradarge wind farm

Bright Energy Investments (BEI) has reached a major project milestone near Eneabba, Western Australia, with all 30 wind turbines now erected for Stage 2 of the Warradarge wind farm.

The installation of the final turbine brings the facility’s total count to 81 turbines and marks a key step toward making the expanded site fully operational later this year.

Once online, the development will boast a combined generation capacity of 283 megawatts (MW), establishing it as the largest wind farm in Western Australia.

“Warradarge Wind Farm is already recognised as one of Australia’s best-performing wind farms, and this expansion will significantly increase the amount of renewable energy it can generate for homes and businesses in the South West Interconnected System (SWIS),” said BEI Executive General Manager Tom Frood.

“We are proud to be investing in infrastructure that supports Western Australia’s energy transition, creates jobs, and delivers long-term benefits for regional communities.”

The Stage 2 expansion supported more than 120 jobs at the peak of construction.

Built amongst the existing 51 turbines, the new units feature a tip height of 152 metres and 67-metre blades anchored into solid concrete foundations.

Potentia Energy CEO Werther Esposito described the milestone as a pivotal achievement for Australia’s broader clean energy transition.

“This is a milestone not just for Western Australia, but for the entire nation’s transition toward reaching our clean energy potential,” Esposito said.

“Warradarge Wind Farm already sets the benchmark for what can be achieved in project design and management. Potentia Energy is proud of what has been achieved here with Synergy, our joint-venture partner, and we are excited for the future.”

BEI is a joint venture between Potentia Energy and the WA state government through Synergy.

Power generated across the 3,800-hectare site feeds into the SWIS grid via a 10-kilometre transmission line and dedicated terminal station at Eneabba, constructed by Western Power.
