Stockland has launched Ampére, a new all-electric village within its Aura masterplanned community on the Sunshine Coast, designed to bring energy-efficient homes and smart technology together to support sustainable living from the moment residents move in.
Ampére is set to become Stockland’s first neighbourhood in Australia where homes are designed to achieve net-zero energy, based on modelling of a typical household’s energy use.
The initiative is intended to help residents reduce both their environmental footprint and their electricity bills.
Each town home in Ampére will include a solar and battery system designed to generate up to 120 per cent of household energy needs, enough renewable energy to power an entire household annually.
According to modelling, this could help residents cut electricity costs by up to $2,000 a year and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to four tonnes, depending on how energy is used in the home.
Stockland Senior Development Manager Genaea Keith said Ampére’s smart, future-ready design is intended to help homeowners cut through the complexity and live more sustainably from day one.
“At Ampére, sustainability isn’t something residents need to navigate later,” said Keith.
“Homes are designed from the ground up to be all-electric, with solar, battery storage and smart technology working together to help lower energy costs and make everyday living simpler.”
Alongside solar and battery systems, homes will feature smart home energy management systems, smart electrical meters, digital water meters and EV-ready garages.
As all-electric homes, renewable energy generated on site can be used to power everyday essentials including cooking, hot water, heating and cooling.
An 8-star energy rating, smart orientation and efficient all-electric systems are also expected to help homes stay cooler in summer and warmer in winter while using less energy every day.
The Australian government’s Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme uses a 0 to 10 star system to measure a home’s energy efficiency, and 8 stars sits well above the national baseline for new builds.

Keith said Ampére reflects a broader shift in how new communities are being designed and delivered, noting that energy efficiency is becoming the new baseline for modern living as Australians look for greater control over their energy use and household costs.
RACQ Solar is supporting delivery of the solar and battery systems across the precinct.
The company’s CEO, Rob Chambers, said the project reflects its commitment to helping Queensland households transition to more sustainable, affordable energy.
“Ampére shows what’s possible when solar and battery technology is designed into a community from the ground up, rather than retrofitted later,” said Chambers.
Every home will be equipped to generate, store and use renewable energy efficiently, giving residents protection against rising electricity costs while reducing their environmental impact.
Chambers added that the project reflects RACQ Solar’s broader commitment to making clean, reliable energy more accessible for Queensland households.
Households will also receive a three-year subscription to EnergyFlex, a platform that lets residents monitor and maximise their household’s renewable energy usage.
EnergyFlex Chief Executive Officer Garry Harding said access to dynamic usage insights will help residents build smart energy habits and choose the best electricity retail plan, adding that Stockland’s approach equips homeowners with the tools to understand their energy use from day one rather than simply purchasing an all-electric home.
Located in Banya, Ampére sits along the Aura Brook with direct access to Nirimba State Primary School and Joy Early Learning childcare centre.
Residents will also benefit from proposed walking trails, parkland and open space planned along the Aura Brook corridor, and the neighbourhood is less than two kilometres from the future Aura Town Centre and Aura Parklands, both currently under construction.
Builder partners Thompson Sustainable Homes and NuTrend Homes will deliver the first release, with residents expected to move in from early 2027.
