Collaboration promotes green building materials

Australian certifier GECA has joined forces with independent building products directory BPI Rating to provide those working in the built environment access to sustainable and compliant building materials.

As of May 2020, approximately 2,000 of GECA’s certified building products feature in the Building Product Information (BPI) Rating’s database.

The free online platform makes it easy and fast for architects, designers, engineers, sustainability professionals and developers to find what they need to build better for people and the planet. Users can quickly compare building products, systems and materials on compliance, resilience, environmental and social credentials.

New features under development include comprehensive product maintenance recommendations developed with the insurance industry and product sustainability scoring for the soon to be launched new Green Star building rating tool.

Paula Clasby, Head of Marketing & Engagement, GECA said BPI Rating fills a long-standing need in the building sector for an unbiased platform with in-depth information on products and their manufacturers.

“Their broad list of categories, which includes health, emissions, quality and safety, is well aligned with the areas GECA assesses and we are pleased to team up with them, adding GECA certified building products to their database. This partnership adds value to all involved, including our clients, who benefit from the added visibility.”

Jonas Bengtsson, Founder of BPI Rating said there’s a growing number of building professionals in Australia looking for in-depth information on products for their buildings.

“The partnership with GECA helps us display to them the achievements and credentials of the hundreds of companies and thousands of building products GECA trustingly and independently certifies, and we are thrilled about it,” Mr Bengtsson said.
