Chamberlain Group, the parent company of Grifco, has unveiled its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Somersby, New South Wales, marking a significant expansion of its national business footprint.
The move comes as Grifco celebrates over 110 years of operation in Australia, including more than three decades on the Central Coast.
The new 19,000 square metre site serves as Grifco’s headquarters, consolidating Chamberlain Group’s manufacturing, warehousing, and engineering teams from across NSW under one roof for the first time.
This relocation from the former Gosford warehouse is expected to:
- Increase production capabilities by 200 per cent
- Boost local employment by 10 per cent in the coming months
- Create more than 50 new jobs in the region
Grant Emanuel, Chamberlain Group ANZ Vice President and Managing Director, emphasised the significance of the move: “This custom-built facility will create a dynamic environment for expansion, product innovation, community engagement, and importantly, it will allow us to further invest in local talent.”
Graeme Sheekey, Chamberlain Group’s Director of Operations and IT, added: “Our new facility will enhance our ability to design, manufacture, and deliver industry-leading access solutions to support our partners across Australia and New Zealand.”
The development of the new headquarters involved local design and property development specialists, Space Urban, and construction firm Crossmuller, both part of the BORG Group based at Kariong.
The facility boasts several sustainability features:
- 200kW solar PV system
- On-site water tanks
- EV chargers
- State-of-the-art facilities supporting employee health and wellbeing
Allison Basford, Space Urban Chief Executive Officer, said: “Our goal was to create a space that not only reflected the company’s rich history of Australian manufacturing but also set a new standard for modern industrial architecture in the region.”
With this expansion, Grifco continues its long-standing tradition of manufacturing products specifically designed for Australian and New Zealand conditions.
The company’s presence extends from local car parks to fire and ambulance stations, and even to iconic structures like Optus Stadium and the Anzac Bridge.
As Chamberlain Group settles into its new Somersby facility, the move represents not only growth for the company but also a significant investment in the Central Coast’s local economy and manufacturing sector.
