Awards to showcase exemplary sustainable steel designs

04 Oct, 2023
Awards

Sustainable use of steel in building and construction projects has never been more important. With this in mind, the Australian Steel Institute (ASI) has launched the Steel Sustainability Awards to recognise exemplary achievements in sustainable design and use of steel.

The new awards will showcase the sustainable achievements of the end-to-end steel supply chain across two broad focus areas:

  • the use of steel in building and construction projects; and
  • company steel sustainability initiatives.

The awards are open to everyone in the steel supply chain eg, architects, designers, engineers, steel manufacturers, distributors, fabricators, processors, builders or constructors.

Categories

The awards will feature four categories, with a fifth presented if warranted to recognise an overall exemplary entry. Winners will be announced online in early 2024.

The categories are:

  • Large projects ($10m or over) – Use of steel in design and construction projects for sustainable impact (new build or refurbishment).
  • Small projects (less than $10m) – Use of steel in design and construction projects for sustainable impact (new build or refurbishment).
  • Company sustainability initiatives (large business, 75-or-more full-time employees) – A company- specific, steel related initiative that has resulted in positive sustainable impact.
  • Company sustainability initiative (small business, less than 75 full-time employees) – A company- specific, steel related initiative that has resulted in positive sustainable impact.
  • Judges award – An award if warranted recognising an overall exemplary entry.

If you have a project or initiative demonstrating exemplary sustainable steel performance, enter now at www.steel.org.au/sustainability-awards and see your work recognised and rewarded nationally. Entries close 31 October 2023.
