Continued WorldGBC-ARKANCE partnership to drive sustainability in construction

06 Dec, 2024
ARKANCE continue partnership with the World Green Building Council

The World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) has announced the continuation of its partnership with ARKANCE, underscoring the commitment to sustainability and quality control within the built environment, and a more sustainable future.

Since 2022, ARKANCE has been actively contributing to WorldGBC initiatives, including the Circularity for the Built Environment Playbook.

This resource, which has garnered over 500,000 downloads since its 2023 release, provides practical guidance on implementing circular economy principles in the construction industry.

WorldGBC is set to launch its 2025-2027 strategic plan in December, focusing on decarbonising the property and construction sectors by 2050.

This initiative is crucial, given that buildings currently contribute to nearly 40 per cent of global carbon emissions.

Carolina Montano Owen, Technical Lead for Sustainable Buildings at WorldGBC, highlighted the importance of partnerships like the one with ARKANCE: “Our corporate partners are a key voice in WorldGBC’s global network, bringing expertise, leadership, and learning from across the value chain.

“To meet global climate targets and put a sustainable built environment at the heart of our future, we need every stakeholder on board creating holistic and comprehensive solutions.”

Owen further highlighted the shared goal of accelerating the adoption of a circular economy and resource efficiency across the sector. “Right now, the world is currently only 7.2 per cent circular.

“Meeting climate targets will require us to tackle the 45 per cent of our sector’s emissions associated with the products and things we make and use, including building materials,” she explained.

The partnership between WorldGBC and ARKANCE demonstrates the power of collaboration in driving sustainable practices in the construction industry.

As the built environment continues to face challenges in reducing its environmental impact, such partnerships are crucial in promoting innovation and efficiency through digital transformation.

This ongoing collaboration is expected to inspire change and promote best practices that will benefit future generations, encouraging other organisations to embrace digital transformation as a means to achieve their sustainability goals in the construction and building sectors.
