Contractors awarded early works extension for Copperstring 2032

CIMIC Group’s UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded a $20 million early works contract by Powerlink for the CopperString 2032 project in North Queensland. The works package will cover detailed engineering design, field surveys, geotechnical surveys and geotechnical works. Collie battery to bolster energy reliability across the South-West

Collie will be the site of the latest big battery to be connected to the South West Interconnected System (SWIS), the electricity grid supplying Perth and more than one million homes and businesses between Geraldton and Esperance and east to Kalgoorlie. AGL to offtake renewable energy from Rye Park Wind Farm

AGL Energy has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Tilt Renewables to offtake electricity generated from the Rye Park Wind Farm in New South Wales. The agreement is the first PPA to be signed since AGL and its partners QIC and the Future Fund acquired Tilt Renewables’ Australian operations in 2021, and it is the first opportunity secured under AGL’s access to Tilt Renewables’ platform. A $7 million Queensland Government investment will support the proposed establishment of the Barcaldine Renewable Energy Zone (BREZ), an industrial precinct in Barcaldine which will be linked to a large-scale, renewable energy project and provide industry with low-carbon electricity. The façade of Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) new city campus is completed ahead of the wet season, capping off the building’s main protection against Darwin’s tropical heat and humidity. Recycled glass and reclaimed asphalt used to revamp Clarence Street

Around 120,000 glass jars and more than 200 tonnes of reclaimed asphalt were used to refresh a one kilometre stretch of Clarence Street in Sydney. This means nearly a quarter of materials used to renew more than 8,000 square metres of road surface is recycled. The City of Sydney resurfaces around 35,000 square metres of road each year. Pure Hydrogen Corporation Limited has secured the option to acquire 21 hectares of land to establish emerald hydrogen manufacturing facilities with Joint Venture partner CAC-H₂. bp has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Mauritania under which it will deliver an innovative programme exploring the potential for large-scale production of green hydrogen in the country. MoU progresses commercialisation of green methanol production

Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company (MGC) and Cement Australia (CA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further the commercialisation of methanol production, using green hydrogen in Gladstone. MGC's newly-developed Circular Carbon Methanol production technology will be applied to capture carbon dioxide from CA's Gladstone Plant.
