Yutong, a bus and coach manufacturer, today unveiled its cutting-edge YEA (Yutong Electric Architecture) technology for the Asia-Pacific market at the National Bus & Coach Show Expo 2024 and the company’s YEA Green Exploration Journey event in Brisbane.
The launch, themed “Think Eco, Move Green”, underscores Yutong’s commitment to sustainable transportation worldwide.
YEA, the first EV-specific platform in the commercial vehicle industry to integrate software and hardware seamlessly, is designed to meet the diverse needs of the bus sector.
At its core are the C architecture and YOS, both developed in-house by Yutong.
This innovative platform promises significant improvements in sustainability, efficiency, performance, and safety by incorporating advanced electric drive systems, intelligent management, and state-of-the-art charging solutions.
Kent Chang, Yutong Asia-Pacific CEO and Vice President of the Asia-Pacific Executive Committee (APC), highlighted the strategic importance of the region, stating: “The Asia-Pacific region is crucial for global development stability and cooperation.
“Yutong is not just exporting new energy buses but actively engaging in local collaborations, leveraging our technological and industrial chain advantages.”
The YEA platform addresses key industry challenges, including range limitations, operational inefficiencies, and high ownership costs.
It boasts a 10 per cent longer range than competitors, 20 per cent lower operating costs, and up to 99 per cent uptime, with batteries lasting up to 1.5 million kilometres.
Alongside YEA, Yutong showcased the 2024 E7S electric bus, a compact, maneuverable vehicle designed for urban feeder routes.
The E7S can accommodate up to 23 passengers and features advanced safety systems and an award-winning design.
Yutong also presented its first E12 pure electric chassis prototype, developed in collaboration with a prominent Australian bodybuilder, demonstrating the company’s commitment to local partnerships.
To date, Yutong has delivered over 190,000 new energy commercial vehicles globally, contributing significantly to reduced fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
The company also announced its Global Carbon Free Forest initiative, pledging to plant a tree for every vehicle sold.
“Through our YEA Green Exploration Journey, we aim to accelerate the realisation of a ‘zero carbon emission’ future,” Chang stated.
“Together with our partners in the Asia-Pacific region, we are committed to advancing a greener future, driving economic prosperity and fostering sustainable development.”
The YEA technology is now available as an option for Yutong‘s electric buses, alongside the newly introduced E7S model.
