Seequent, The Bentley Subsurface Company, has announced a significant update to its flagship 3D earth modelling and analysis tool, Leapfrog Energy.
This latest release, version 2024.1, introduces enhanced functionality aimed at improving productivity and addressing various geoscience challenges in energy projects.
The update brings several notable improvements to Leapfrog Energy:
- Multi-tasking Capabilities: Users can now run multiple instances of Leapfrog on a single machine, allowing for simultaneous project work while utilising only one seat.
- Advanced Drilling Analysis: New visualisation features for downhole survey data provide additional insights and validation of drill hole orientation.
- Improved Geological Modelling: Enhanced flexibility in data inputs enables users to create more accurate models more quickly, including support for attributed mapping data.
Rachel Murtagh, Product Manager for Geology, Geostatistics and Data Science at Seequent, emphasised the company’s commitment to user-led development.
“We spend a lot of time listening to customers about what they need to succeed,” Murtagh stated.
This approach has proven successful, with Leapfrog users creating nearly 200,000 new geological models in 2023 alone.
The latest release also lays the groundwork for future advancements in geoscience.
Seequent has incorporated technologies to improve interoperability between desktop and cloud products, paving the way for hybrid workflow opportunities through a new geoscience data platform currently in development.
The update comes at a crucial time for industries served by Seequent, which are facing increasingly stringent economic and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) conditions.
By enhancing core functionality and improving productivity, Leapfrog Energy 2024.1 aims to help geoscientists focus more of their time on critical challenges in subsurface analysis and resource management.
This significant update to Leapfrog Energy underscores Seequent’s ongoing commitment to innovation in earth modelling software and its dedication to meeting the evolving needs of geoscience professionals across various sectors.
