Forest and Wood Products Australia (FWPA) is launching a major initiative to promote the benefits of timber framing in construction, aiming to significantly boost its market presence.
The campaign, titled ‘Timber Framing: The Ultimate Renewable’, will be rebranded under the WoodSolutions banner and managed by FWPA.
Christine Briggs, a former FWPA board member and founding member of the Timber Framing Collective, has been appointed as Campaign Manager.
Her extensive sales and marketing experience, coupled with her industry knowledge, is expected to drive the campaign’s success.
Kevin Peachey, FWPA’s Head of Build Environment and WoodSolutions Program, emphasised the importance of this campaign in supporting the forest and wood products industry.
He stated: “Timber framing is a cost-effective, long-lasting and sustainable option for framing in construction, and we believe it should remain a part of the DNA of Australian homes.”
Peachey also highlighted that the timber framing industry employs over 45,000 people across the supply chain, providing significant job opportunities.
The campaign aims to communicate the benefits of timber framing to builders, developers, and the broader construction industry.
Christine Briggs expressed her enthusiasm for the project, noting: “From bolstering jobs and the supply chain to delivering cost-effective, renewable materials and creating high-quality, durable homes, timber framing is a success story from beginning to end.”
FWPA has committed additional investment to ensure the campaign’s ongoing success, complementing the existing funding provided by the Timber Framing Collective funding partners.
Sarah Downey, FWPA Head of Marketing and Communications, explained that FWPA’s WoodSolutions program is well-positioned to champion this message due to its established connections and authority in the building design and construction sector.
The campaign will highlight eleven key reasons why timber framing is the top choice for builders, including its sustainability credentials.
FWPA commenced management of the campaign on July 1, 2024, marking a new chapter in the promotion of timber framing in Australia.
