German drive specialist Flender has once again achieved the prestigious platinum medal from EcoVadis, the leading provider of sustainability ratings for companies.
This recognition places Flender in the top 1 per cent of companies evaluated by EcoVadis, marking a significant milestone as it follows the gold medal awarded to the company in its initial assessment in 2022.
The latest evaluation reflects Flender’s commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility, showcasing substantial improvements across key performance areas.
Since its last assessment, Flender’s overall score has increased from 78 to 83, driven by the implementation of new guidelines and projects aimed at enhancing sustainability practices.
Notably, the company achieved an impressive rise in its environmental score from 80 to 90 points, while its ethical practices score improved from 70 to 80.
These advancements are attributed to various initiatives, including a new process that utilises heat generated from production to enhance energy efficiency.
Regular monitoring and testing have been instituted to ensure environmental protection during production processes.
Flender has also prioritised employee wellbeing and career development through various measures that support both mental and physical health.
The company conducts regular audits to ensure adherence to fair competition standards and assesses suppliers based on their environmental and social practices.
Innovations such as increasing the power density of wind gearboxes further illustrate Flender’s role in driving the energy transition and reducing resource consumption.
The company’s robust sustainability management system encompasses all four areas evaluated by EcoVadis: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
This comprehensive approach underscores Flender’s dedication to transparency throughout its value chain.
Looking ahead, Flender aims to maintain its leadership in corporate social responsibility within its industry.
