Bureau Veritas, a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification services, has announced the acquisition of Versatec Energy B.V., a specialised technical advisory company for the offshore and onshore energy industry.
This strategic move aligns with Bureau Veritas’ LEAP | 28 strategy, which aims to establish a strong presence in the rapidly expanding renewables sector.
The acquisition underscores Bureau Veritas’ commitment to the energy transition and strengthens its role as a key player in developing a sustainable and safe energy sector.
With this acquisition, Bureau Veritas enhances its ability to provide comprehensive solutions across the energy sector, addressing both current and future challenges associated with renewable and low-carbon energy assets.
The inclusion of Versatec Energy B.V. expands Bureau Veritas’ service offerings in critical areas such as oil and gas, nuclear, renewables — particularly offshore wind — and low-carbon technologies like hydrogen and carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS).
Versatec Energy B.V., headquartered in the Netherlands, brings over 40 years of expertise in the offshore energy industry.
The company focuses on five core areas — health, safety & environment, operational excellence, quality & technical compliance, technical documentation & training, and digital smart solutions.
Versatec has been instrumental in over 1,500 global projects across Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa, generating revenues of €4.2 million in 2023.
Hinda Gharbi, CEO of Bureau Veritas, stated: “The acquisition of Versatec Energy B.V. expands our capabilities in the renewables and energy sectors with a proven track record in asset due diligence, commissioning, start-up, and project management.
“Their expertise will help build our new stronghold in the sector. I warmly welcome all new colleagues from Versatec Energy to our company.”
Klaas-Otto Ykema, CEO of Versatec Energy, expressed enthusiasm about the merger, stating: “Having spent two decades in and around Offshore Energy, I have always admired Bureau Veritas’ diverse skills across testing, inspection, and certification.
“Joining forces will allow us to further expand a business with scale, ambition, and a global client book thanks to our unique skills and talents developed over the last 40 years across all parts of the energy sector.”
