Shaping the future of energy
Global Energy Show Unites the oil and gas industry for a stronger future

The 51st running of North America’s Leading Energy Event, the Global Petroleum Show (GPS) highlighted new technologies, innovation and optimism for a strong Canadian energy sector. Over 53,000 members of government, CEOs, decision makers and visitors came together from around the globe to send one message: Alberta is open for business. Canada is open for business.
For 2020 the name has changed to Global Energy Show to ensure we can continue to grow our relevance and position as the key platform where buyers and sellers, policy makers and leaders make decisions that shape the future of energy.

The industry is changing. Over the years GPS has transformed into a bigger and better platform for energy executives to host meetings, make company announcements and engage in dialogue that reflects the state of the industry. This year’s Show featured new additions including the Global Meetings Program, Pipeline Alley, the Passport Program in the Outdoor Zone and two separate conferences that each brought an incredible lineup of speakers.

Memorable attendees including Alberta Premier Hon. Jason Kenney, Saskatchewan Premier Hon. Scott Moe, Tim Gould, Head of Division, Energy Supply and Investment Outlooks at the International Energy Agency, and entrepreneur, philanthropist and former CBC Dragon W. Brett Wilson delivered keynote speeches and participated in panels during the new programming of the Strategic Conference. Throughout this three-day conference, speakers discussed topics including global and regional perspectives across the oil and gas value chain, energy transition, energy policies, digitalization and new business models.

The GPS Technical Conference brought over 120 industry experts from around the world to present and discuss the latest technologies, processes and innovations.

To bring the City of Calgary closer to the importance of Canadian energy in the global market, GPS became the venue of Canada’s Largest Pro Oil and Gas Rally in history. The impressive speakers from all levels of government from across the country united with the message “Alberta is open for business,” and it spoke volumes to the over 4,000 guests in attendance.
