Woolnorth Renewables taps Oracle NetSuite to streamline operations and support expansion

Woolnorth Renewables taps Oracle NetSuite to streamline operations and support expansion

Woolnorth Renewables, a major renewable energy provider in Tasmania, is leveraging Oracle NetSuite to bolster its mission of harnessing Tasmania’s wind resources to power the local community and economy.

The company announced it has been able to take advantage of an integrated business suite to automate financial processes, improve reporting, and increase operational efficiency.

Founded in 2002, Woolnorth Renewables operates three wind farms across Tasmania, generating around 9 per cent of the state’s electricity needs.

The company is also developing another wind farm in Victoria at the Mt Fyans site outside Mortlake.

To support its expansion, Woolnorth Renewables sought to replace its manual, spreadsheet-based financial processes to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve business visibility.

After evaluation, the company selected NetSuite for its new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in July 2023.

“We are committed to helping the Tasmanian government achieve its ambitious goal of producing enough renewable energy to cover twice the state’s energy needs by 2040,” said Kerry Butler Woolnorth Renewables CFO.

“As a result, our business needs to be ready for rapid growth and expansion.”

“NetSuite has transformed our financial operations by providing complete visibility across our expanding operations and enabling our teams to make quicker and more informed decisions.

“Additionally, NetSuite’s ability to support our multi-subsidiary needs is pivotal in enabling us to stay nimble as we grow our business.”

With NetSuite, Woolnorth Renewables has consolidated its business processes in a single system, saving time, reducing errors, and improving insights.

The financial planning capabilities in NetSuite have enabled Woolnorth Renewables to automate planning and budgeting across various business entities, streamline reporting, and accelerate decision-making.

“As demand for renewable energy increases, organisations like Woolnorth Renewables need to adopt more efficient and scalable business processes,” said Scott Wiltshire, VP and General Manager at Oracle NetSuite Australia and New Zealand.

“With NetSuite, Woolnorth Renewables has a single source of truth to improve overall business operations as it expands into Victoria and powers a renewable energy transformation across the country.”

Woolnorth Renewables currently owns and operates two wind farms at Woolnorth and one at Cape Portland in Tasmania, taking advantage of the region’s world-class wind resources.
