Wood's carbon advisory team celebrates record-breaking year in 2024

Wood’s carbon advisory team has reported a transformative year in 2024, securing a record number of wins and expanding its global footprint.

The team has delivered solutions across diverse regions, including Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Nova Scotia, Thailand, and the UK, meeting the increasing demand from Wood’s international client portfolio.

In the Middle East, the team supported a national oil company’s participation in the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme.

This project involved certifying sustainable aviation fuel production, delivering a multi-million-dollar emissions baselining and decarbonisation mapping scope, and supporting the world’s first eco-city with emissions reduction strategies.

The team’s global successes also extended to Nova Scotia, where they detailed opportunities for the industrial sector to adopt green hydrogen as a primary power source, aligning with the region’s net-zero ambitions.

Azad Hessamodini, Wood’s Executive President for Consulting, commented on the growing demand for carbon advisory services: “As the world strives to balance energy demand and emissions reduction, it’s vital we work with our clients to understand their full emissions profile and develop pragmatic, cost-effective, and verifiable solutions.”

To support its expanding portfolio, the carbon advisory team has grown to 40 members over the past year.

Hessamodini emphasised the importance of accurate carbon footprint baselining as a crucial first step in decarbonisation strategies, stating: “With our carbon advisory team, we thoroughly map the client’s carbon footprint and develop staged blueprints for successfully tracking progress against tangible, verifiable goals.”

Looking ahead to 2025, Wood’s carbon advisory team aims to continue its growth trajectory, working with an expanding client base to develop tailored sustainable solutions for emissions reduction.

This success story underscores the increasing global focus on carbon management and sustainable practices across industries, positioning Wood as a leader in the transition towards a lower-carbon future.
