Tindo Solar secures its largest export contract to date

Adelaide-based solar manufacturer Tindo Solar has secured its largest export contract to date, signing a five-year, $8.4 million agreement to supply 15 megawatts (MW) of high-quality solar panels to major projects in Vietnam.

The deal, inked with Thanh Do Australia, will see Tindo’s panels delivered to large-scale infrastructure, real estate, and clean energy developments via the parent company, Thanh Do Construction Group.

The first shipment of Tindo’s 430-watt cyclone-rated rooftop solar panels, produced at the company’s Mawson Lakes facility in South Australia, is scheduled to depart Adelaide for Vietnam in June 2025.

All panels will carry a 25-year product warranty, reflecting the company’s focus on durability and performance.

“This five-year agreement is a vote of confidence in Tindo’s employees, and in Australian manufacturing’s ability to succeed at the premium end of a very competitive market,” said Richard Petterson, Chief Executive Officer of Tindo Solar.

“Tindo internally invests in R&D and engineering to ensure we produce a solar panel that always outperforms the market.

“Australians are prepared to pay slightly more for a high-quality panel, and we’ve identified the same premium market in other territories such as Vietnam,” Petterson added.

The export agreement comes as international demand rises for reliable, high-performance solar technology.

Tindo’s reputation for quality was recently reinforced when its Karra 410W module was the only panel in a CHOICE survey of 15 solar brands to have its tested output match the nameplate claim.

“If you start with quality, you get better power output and greater reliability over extended years of operation,” Petterson said.

“That gives you the best chance of abating more CO2 in the energy system than was produced in manufacturing the equipment.

“The Vietnamese market is aware of this equation.”

Tindo Solar, which began manufacturing panels in 2011 and opened its new factory in 2021, plans to scale up production to meet growing demand for premium solar panels in Australia and abroad.

The five-year deal with Thanh Do Australia marks a significant milestone for Tindo as it expands its footprint in Southeast Asia’s rapidly growing renewable energy sector.
