GenusPlus secures $130m NBN upgrade contract

National infrastructure provider GenusPlus Group Ltd (ASX: GNP) has announced the award of a significant new contract with NBN Co, valued at approximately $130 million, to upgrade the remaining Fibre to the Node (FTTN) network across Western Australia.

The contract will see GenusPlus deliver design and construction services to deploy additional fibre infrastructure to around 22,000 properties in both the North and South regions of Western Australia.

Work on the project is set to commence immediately and is scheduled for completion over a 3.5-year period.

This latest contract win reinforces GenusPlus Group’s position as a leading provider of essential power and communications infrastructure across Australia.

The company has recently completed the N2P Evolution Module for nbn, further cementing its relationship with NBN Co as a trusted delivery partner.

GenusPlus Group Managing Director David Riches expressed his enthusiasm about the new partnership, stating: “We are delighted to have secured this important contract and we look forward to continuing to develop our relationship with nbn as a key delivery partner; completing the works safely, efficiently, and on time.”

The upgrade is part of NBN Co’s ongoing program to enhance Australia’s broadband network by replacing older FTTN technology with full fibre connections, thereby improving internet speeds and reliability for thousands of households and businesses.

Industry analysts note that this contract marks a significant milestone for GenusPlus Group, highlighting its continued growth and progress towards becoming a nationally scaled, Tier 1 contractor of choice in the critical infrastructure sector.

The company’s expertise in both power and communications infrastructure positions it well to support the federal government’s broader digital transformation agenda.

The deployment of new fibre infrastructure in Western Australia is expected to create local jobs and deliver long-term benefits to communities by providing faster and more reliable internet access.

The project also underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in delivering essential services and supporting regional development.

As GenusPlus embarks on this major project, the company remains committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality in its operations, further strengthening its reputation as a leader in Australia’s infrastructure landscape.
