GenusPlus Group (Genus) has appointed former Synergy CEO David Fyfe as Chief Operating Officer, signalling a strategic push to cement its position as a national Tier 1 infrastructure leader.
Fyfe, who brings over 20 years of experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors, most recently led Western Australia’s largest energy provider, Synergy, through a significant transition toward renewable energy and a robust pipeline of green energy projects.
His appointment comes as Genus accelerates its delivery of critical infrastructure projects across transmission, battery energy storage systems (BESS), renewables, communications, and large-scale developments nationwide.
“I wanted to return to the private sector and be part of something dynamic and fast-growing,” Fyfe said.
“As a former client, I experienced Genus’s integrity, collaboration and reliability first-hand, which speaks volumes about the culture.
“The chance to help grow this business was too good to pass up.”
Fyfe’s leadership at Synergy was marked by his focus on sustainability and innovation, overseeing the closure of coal-fired power stations and the expansion of renewable and storage projects aimed at reshaping Western Australia’s energy landscape.
His industry experience also includes senior executive roles at Western Power, where he managed large-scale operations and capital works programs, as well as board positions in both listed and not-for-profit sectors.
Genus Managing Director David Riches described Fyfe’s appointment as a milestone for the company.
“David joining us is a landmark moment. We’ve grown into a national Tier 1 operator delivering critical infrastructure right across the country,” said Riches.
“His insight will help us scale faster, diversify further, and strengthen our position as contractor of choice.”
The move comes as Genus continues to expand its national footprint, recently securing a major three-year Construction Services Panel Agreement with Transgrid, further solidifying its reputation as a trusted partner in delivering complex infrastructure solutions.
Fyfe’s arrival is expected to accelerate Genus’s next phase of growth, with the company leveraging his expertise to drive innovation and operational excellence across its expanding portfolio.
As the infrastructure sector faces increasing demand for sustainable and technologically advanced solutions, Genus’s leadership team sees Fyfe’s appointment as pivotal in navigating the evolving landscape and maintaining its competitive edge.
With more than 1,400 staff and a comprehensive end-to-end delivery model, Genus is poised to play a central role in shaping Australia’s energy and communications future.
