Fox ESS unveils next-generation CQ6 battery

Fox ESS unveils next-generation CQ6 battery

Fox ESS has announced the launch of its CQ6 High Voltage Storage Battery, a next-generation energy storage solution designed to support Australia’s accelerating transition toward renewable power.

With 48 kWh capacity from eight units in a single stack, the CQ6 delivers higher energy density in a compact, modular design — ideally suited for homeowners and businesses seeking eligibility under the Cheaper Home Batteries Program.

Engineered for performance and practicality, the CQ6 combines over 95 per cent round-trip efficiency and 100 per cent depth of discharge, ensuring maximum energy use and faster payback for users.

These efficiencies translate directly into lower energy costs and improved return on investment for households eager to enhance solar self-consumption.

Beyond performance, the CQ6 prioritises ease of installation.

Its compact, space-saving form allows for more flexible deployment across different environments — from suburban rooftops to regional and industrial sites.

Compared to traditional systems, the new model can reduce installation time by up to two hours, minimising disruption while providing faster access to solar energy savings.

Compatibility remains a core strength of the Fox ESS ecosystem.

The CQ6 integrates seamlessly with the company’s full range of inverters, including the H1-G2, KH/HA Series, and H3 Series.

Each 5.99 kWh module can be configured with up to 14 units per stack, offering a scalable capacity between 11.98 kWh and 83.86 kWh.

When paired with the H3 Plus inverter, three stacks can achieve a remarkable 251.58 kWh capacity, making the system highly adaptable across residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

“The CQ6 is a game-changer for Australia’s clean energy transition,” said John Grimes, CEO of the Smart Energy Council.

“Its high density and efficiency, along with modular scalability, make it perfect for homes and businesses aiming to maximise solar self-consumption and reduce reliance on the grid — especially as daytime electricity becomes more abundant and affordable.”

The CQ6’s flexibility is designed to align with recent updates to the Australian government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program and the forthcoming Solar Sharer Offer (SSO) set to launch on 1 July 2026.

The SSO will require energy retailers in NSW, SE Queensland, and South Australia to provide a minimum of three hours of free daytime electricity, offering significant potential for battery storage systems to optimise energy use and drive down household costs.

These policy changes create a fertile environment for advanced storage technologies such as the CQ6 to help stabilise the grid, support virtual power plant initiatives, and enhance compatibility with leading energy platforms like Amber, Evergen, and Synergy.

“Thanks to the SEC and the federal government for their continued efforts to strengthen local policy for our industry,” said Michael Zhu, CEO of Fox ESS.

“These updates are crucial for accelerating Australia’s clean energy transition and enabling households and businesses to achieve real energy independence.

“At Fox ESS, we will remain dedicated to developing better products and providing reliable clean energy to millions of Australian homes, helping them live in a more efficient, sustainable way.”
