Australians seeking energy savings can now access a household battery storage rebate months ahead of schedule through VoltX Energy.
This move comes as rising living costs push consumers to find ways to maximise their budgets.
The New South Wales government plans to introduce rebates of $1600 for battery systems ranging from 2 to 28 kilowatt-hours capacity starting November 1.
However, VoltX Energy is offering this rebate to its customers upfront, allowing them to benefit immediately.
David Sedighi, Chief Operating Officer of VoltX Energy, warns of potential delays for those who wait until November.
“Those who wait for the NSW government rebate could face a backlog of installations, due to the forecast overwhelming surge in demand,” Sedighi stated.
He emphasised that by offering the rebate now, customers can avoid delays and start saving immediately.
The urgency stems from a shortage of electricians and installers in the industry, coupled with an expected high demand for the rebate.
Sedighi cautioned that delays could stretch installations to April next year.
Currently, 3.2 million Australian households (32 per cent) have rooftop solar panels, with 885,000 in NSW alone. However, only 2 per cent of households across Australia have a battery storage system.
This number is expected to increase significantly as batteries become more affordable and energy companies introduce new charges.
Ausgrid, for instance, has implemented a 1.2c/kWh tariff for rooftop solar exported to its network during midday hours, set to become mandatory for all customers by July 2025.
Sedighi argues that installing a battery can help households maximise savings by reducing reliance on the grid, especially during peak times.
“Battery storage is essential for Australia’s transition to renewable energy,” Sedighi explained.
“It allows households to store excess solar power, reducing reliance on the grid and lowering carbon footprints. This is a critical step towards a sustainable future.”
With the $1600 rebate, the price of a VoltX Energy Battery will drop from $7500 to $5900, including installation.
This early access to the rebate provides an opportunity for Australians to invest in sustainable energy solutions while potentially avoiding future installation delays.
