AGL expands charging network access to Chargefox app

AGL chargers now visible on Chargefox

AGL’s electric vehicle (EV) charging sites in Sydney are now listed on the Chargefox app, giving drivers easier access to the company’s growing network of pole-mounted kerbside chargers.

The partnership aims to make public charging more convenient, especially for city residents who lack private home charging options and for visitors stopping by for shopping, entertainment, or errands.

The collaboration expands Chargefox’s platform offerings while helping AGL reach more EV users.

“We are excited to welcome another charging network to Chargefox,” said Executive General Manager of Chargefox Ed Asuncion.

“Kerbside charging is a critical part of our mission to provide convenient charging to EV drivers right across Australia, with a secure and convenient experience.”

The announcement means AGL’s kerbside charging sites, which come in two charging speeds (up to 7kW and up to 22kW), are now accessible through the Chargefox app and Chargefox RFID cards.

Through the app, EV drivers can locate, charge, and pay for their sessions, integrating AGL’s street-side chargers with Australia’s most popular EV charging platform.

AGL’s Head of E-Mobility, Mabelle Reyes, said the move reflects the company’s broader commitment to making electric vehicle ownership easier and more accessible.

“At AGL, we’re really focussed on making it easier for Australians to adopt electric vehicles but recognise that not everyone will have the ability or ease of access to have at home chargers,” said Reyes.

“By providing over 150 public chargers around Sydney our central aim was to improve this access to reliable charging.

“Partnering with Chargefox now extends the reach of these kerbside chargers, giving more EV drivers the confidence that they can conveniently charge in more locations without reliance on off-street parking.”

The integration also widens the visibility of AGL’s chargers to a much larger audience.

By joining the Chargefox network, AGL’s sites are now accessible to more than 300,000 registered EV drivers nationally.

Making chargers available on Chargefox means exposing them to over 300,000 EV drivers.

Increased exposure means more people using chargers, which means more revenue for charger owners, who will ultimately invest in more chargers.

This has been seen as mutual win for drivers and charger owners alike.

Chargefox, which is operated by Australian Motoring Services (AMS), continues to grow its public charging network with an emphasis on accessibility and simplicity for users.

Its platform allows drivers to locate thousands of chargers across Australia from multiple providers under one unified interface.

Rebecca Stenhouse, CEO of AMS, said the integration supports the long-term vision of Chargefox to simplify public charging for every driver.

“We’re building a future where all public EV chargers are available to all EV drivers on one simple platform, so users can easily and securely see, navigate to, and use thousands of chargers without having to use multiple apps,” she said.

The newly integrated AGL sites are now visible and operational on the Chargefox app, marking another step forward for EV charging availability across Sydney and signalling continued industry collaboration toward Australia’s zero-emission transport goals.
